Elephant combat was a great pastime of the Mughal Emperors. There is a delightful mosaic on the walls of the Wazir Khan mosque in Lahore, Pakistan that dates back to Mughal times when elephants were commonplace on the streets of Lahore. At the Craft Company, we have tried to keep the essence of this famous mosaic in Pakistan. We want you to enjoy the delightful juxtaposition of the curvy mosaic pattern of the elephant mosaic and the straight-edged background. The paisley borders are also a signature style of historic Mughal art.
